Frequently Asked Questions
What happens if my power goes out?
Your security system comes equipped with a battery. If the battery needs maintenance, it will send our central station a low battery or battery trouble signal.

I changed my phone service; do I need to notify SSI?
Anytime you have work done on your phone service, you need to notify central station. It may be necessary for one of our technicians to check your system to make sure your system is still communicating with our monitoring station.

How is my system monitored?
SSI currently utilizes land lines, cellular transmitters, and internet.  We recommend two forms of transmission for each system.

How often should I test my system?
We recommend you test your system monthly.

If I go out of town, do I need to notify SSI?
It is always a good idea to notify your security company when you leave town for any amount of time. We recommend you have alternate numbers of representatives for us to call in case of emergency.

Can you turn my system off from your office?
Our Central Station is not equipped with the capability to disarm systems.

Does everyone on my list have to have their own password?
Although it is a good idea for each person to have their own password it is not required.

Would my pet set my alarm off?
SSI will design a "pet immune" system for you.  Please discuss with your SSI representative.
